Breaking Free of Perfect

Breaking Free of Perfect

I have been dreaming about starting this blog for months.

So, why are you just hearing about it now? Why the heck haven’t I been blogging?

There is nothing wrong with wanting things to be a certain way, to match the vision of what’s to come. The problem is when we are not doing what needs to be done, not saying what needs to be said, not connecting or not showing up because it’s not perfect.

I hired Deidre Hughey of The Buzz Builder to link wordpress to my webhost, set up the template & design, as well as provide me with an in-depth tutorial session so I can navigate this simple process for myself.

Next I hired Jen Rhoton, a graphic designer to capture the essence of The Next Highest Version of You as a visual for the header of this site, business cards and brochures, etc. (this element is in production).

I still have “hire a photographer” on my to-do list to complete the perfect inviting header for this site.

So, I’ve been waiting. Waiting to write, waiting to connect, and waiting to share.

It’s been like moving into a new house and being too embarrassed to invite your friends or new neighbors by because there are no pictures on the wall and the furniture is not in the right place. The new neighbors aren’t interested in meeting the furniture. They are interested in meeting the humans who are potential contributors to their community.

Breaking free from the need to be perfect unleashes all kinds of restrictions and self-imposed procrastination. What I want is to meet the neighbors! It’s lonely hanging out in an “unfinished” house. It’s the people who visit that make it homey and special.

Welcome to my unfinished blog site, for just like a home, it will always be a work in progress. I invite you to kick off your shoes, grab an unopened box and help me figure out where to hang a picture or two.

This site will never be perfect in the sense of being “done”, because evolution is all about the continual improvement and expansion of Who We Really Are…which is just perfect!

Love,

Schelli Whitehouse

Schelli, I love your honesty and good humor! It IS the people that matter, not the externals. I can relate to the “externals”, because my own website is very new & very unfinished. I too wanted my door to be open. The photo of you w/ your horse is great. You can cross that one off your “to-do” list.
btw, I appreciate the help you gave me – a clarifying answer to a question I had – at MMSI.
