How to Create a Vision Board

Who is that in the Mirror?

What do you see when you take a good look at your life?

What do you want to see?

What do you want to DO, BE or HAVE within the next 2-12 months that you don’t have today?

Pick the first thing that pops into your mind. Everyone wants to improve something about their current physical, mental or emotional state of being. If we’re not growing toward something then we are receding away from it. There’s really no such thing as ‘status quo’.

What Pumps You Up?

You can focus on just one thing or many, it’s up to you. Whatever it is, make sure it makes your heart go pitter-patter just to think of it.

Step ONE: Write it down!

Too many people skip this step – it’s critical. Write it down in the present tense, as if it’s already a reality.

EXAMPLES:

  • I love how great my new clothes look on me now that I weigh 143! (I like that one because it rhymes).
  • I am so grateful for this new position that provides me with more money, recognition and the opportunity to ‘strut my stuff’!
  • I am ecstatic to have my credit card balance of $7200. paid in full by May 15th at 5:00pm.

Step TWO: Get Ready to Play!

Now it’s time to get really involved with your vision for yourself. It requires some ‘doing’. This little exercise is designed to get you visually and physically involved with your goal. If you haven’t done this before, it may feel silly. You may think it’s a waste of time. I promise you - it is a vital step in getting you fully connected to your vision.

And… it’s fun!

Reading is great – writing is better – physically creating your vision is superior.

EXERCISE:

>>> Gather your favorite magazines, a pair of scissors, glue stick, and a piece of poster board. It doesn’t have to be huge, even an 8 ½ x 11 piece of printer paper will be fine.

>>> While you are thinking about the statement(s) you wrote for yourself, thumb through the magazines and rip out the pages that have images that resonate with your goal or vision.

EXAMPLE:

  • If you used an extra $10,000/per month in your statement, look for visuals of what you will do with that extra money.
  • Want to pay off your kid’s college tuition (or your own student loan?). Find a picture of the college from a brochure or online, put it on your vision board and write ‘Paid in Full’ across it.
  • Buy a couple of magazines if you have to, to get the pictures you want of an exotic vacation or remodeled kitchen.

Also add some actual pictures of money – even write yourself a check for $10,000. – date it for the target date you have chosen to receive this amount by, and glue it to your board!

Some people may actually feel uncomfortable with this process; some of you will go crazy and have a blast. Although it may not appear to be relevant with regards to earning money, it is a necessary step toward training your brain to get involved with ‘possibility’, ‘abundance’ and ‘receiving’.

Again, DO NOT EDIT YOUR CHOICES.

If a picture of a Rolls Royce appeals to you - slap that photo on your board. Do not skip over it because you ‘think’ it’s out of the realm of possibility or “who needs that anyway”?

This process will free your subconscious mind to RECEIVE the good that you desire. When we have been existing in a state of lack and limiting beliefs for so long – it takes sustained visualization and practice to create the belief of wealth and abundance.

Get emotionally involved with the good that you desire!

You will begin to feel and act as if you are already in possession of the goods and freedom from debt that you are visualizing.

I have my vision board on the wall next to my desk. If you are shy and don’t want other people looking at your board (yet) then fold it up to fit into a notebook.

Read your vision statements twice a day and take the time to gaze at your vision board. Really get involved with what you are looking at. YOU created those images for yourself.

When you feel your heart go pitter-patter at the thought of actually having, doing or giving that feeling to others – then you know you’ve hit the right vibration necessary to attract those things to you.

Let me know what you’re going to put on your vision board!

Happy Manifesting!
